ESR 4 : Emergence of spatial receptive fields on the entorhinal/hippocampal axis

Supervisor: Dr. Clifford Kentros (NTNU, Trondheim, Norway) The lab investigates the neural circuitry of memory by combining molecular genetics with in vivo electrophysiology to record the consequences of anatomically-specific circuit manipulations. We have recently developed a novel method called EDGE (Enhancer-Driven Gene Expression) which enables the generation of molecular genetic tools capable of targeting specific neuronal cell types. We use these tools to deliver transgenes capable of manipulating neural activity in both the short and long term to determine the distinct contributions of specific cell types to the generation and regulation of the spatial receptive fields found in the entorhinal-hippocampal axis.
